We are seeking a hard-working and team-oriented person to lead our Parks and Gardens Team at The Rock. This position will supervise and schedule work for employees under their direct control and be engaged primarily in maintaining and improving the appearance of parks, gardens, reserves, cemeteries, streets, and trees controlled by Lockhart Shire Council and may also be called upon to utilise their skills in other areas as required. 

  • Permanent full-time position - 76 hours per fortnight
  • Remuneration range of $1310.30 to $1467.54 gross per week + Superannuation.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • 9-Day fortnight  

Your new role:

Some key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Provide well maintained parks, gardens, streetscapes, reserves and cemeteries through accepted horticultural practices.
  • Maintain and ensure cleanliness of urban areas.
  • Erection and maintenance of playground equipment and park furniture.
  • Supervise and schedule work for employees and contractors under direct control.
  • Maintain and ensure cleanliness of Council depot.
  • Maintain sufficient stores for routine tasks.
  • Submit weekly work sheets and time sheets.
  • Check person and contractors time sheet(s) under direct control.

What you need to succeed:

  • Certificate in Horticulture or related discipline (essential), i.e., parks and gardens, landscaping, tree surgery 
  • Experience supervising a small team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to plan work schedules
  • Driving Licence Class C
  • Chainsaw Operators and Safety Certificate
  • Chemical Users Course Certificate
  • Induction Training for Construction Workers Certificate (White Card)
  • Two (2) years relevant work experience.
