Position Overview

The Asset Engineer will play a critical role in assisting the Director of Engineering with the planning and execution of Council’s Asset Management and GIS programs. This position will involve contributing technical expertise and support to the development of asset management systems, capital project planning, and ensuring infrastructure assets are maintained within budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Director of Engineering with asset renewal planning for immediate, medium, and long-term projects.
  • Reviewing and updating asset management plans across various asset classes, including roads, bridges, and buildings.
  • Collaborating on the development of the annual budget and long-term capital improvement plans.
  • Managing an asset inspection program to ensure ongoing asset integrity.
  • Preparing tender documentation and managing consultants for asset improvement projects.
  • Maintaining Council’s asset management and GIS systems to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Incorporating new project documentation into asset management systems.
  • Assisting in the design and survey of construction projects, including urban and rural works.
  • Preparing specifications and managing small tenders and quotations.
  • Performing additional duties as required based on skills and competencies.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary-level engineering qualifications.
  • NSW Class C Driver's Licence (P1 or above).
  • Experience in asset management and working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills with excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Desirable: Previous experience within Local Government, General Construction Induction Card, and professional engineering registration.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage multiple tasks and contribute positively to our team and community.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications We offer a supportive work environment with opportunities for professional development.

Employment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The position will work 70 hours over a period of nine weekdays to allow one rostered day off work each fortnight. The position  has been placed at Grade 17 with a salary range of $94,957.20 to $104,357.76 per annum
