The Role
As a Trainee Planning & Building Officer, you’ll work alongside the Director of Planning & Environment, gaining experience in planning, building certification, and environmental health. This four-year traineeship provides structured development while you complete relevant qualifications.
You’ll assist with the NSW Planning Portal, process applications, conduct inspections, and provide support on compliance matters. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career while contributing to essential community services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning and environmental operations within Council
- Manage applications and documents in the NSW Planning Portal
- Assist in assessing development, building, and compliance applications
- Conduct inspections for pools, plumbing, and general compliance
- Provide excellent customer service and timely support
About You
We’re looking for someone eager to learn, committed to training, and ready to contribute to our team.
- NSW Provisional or Class C Driver Licence
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office; GIS an advantage)
- White Card (preferred, but not essential)
- A willingness to follow safety procedures and work collaboratively
