Position Overview
This is a hands-on operational role suited to an experienced plant operator who enjoys civil works and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes.
The Plant Operator Level 2 is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of major plant and equipment across a range of Council works, including road construction, maintenance and associated civil activities. The role also includes general labouring duties as required to support the completion of works programs.
You will work as part of a team, follow safety procedures, communicate effectively on site and contribute to maintaining Council’s public infrastructure to a high standard.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a motivated and reliable operator with the following:
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in plant operation and general labouring duties
- A strong safety focus and ability to work as part of a team
- Experience in road construction and maintenance labouring, traffic control, and using string lines and levels
Licences & Certifications
- NSW Class HR Driver Licence or above
- Verification of Competency (VOC) in operating three or more of the following:
- Backhoe
- Front-end loader
- Excavator
- Skid steer
- Roller
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Proactive, safety-conscious, and solutions-focused

Salary & Benefits
- Salary range: $1,087.37 – $1,217.86 per week
- 4-day working week (currently trialing, ending 30 June 2026 unless approved)
